Rebecca Benner has more than 20 years of experience in STM journal publishing. As the current Senior Managing Editor of Anesthesiology (flagship journal of the American Society of Anesthesiologists), she is responsible for the planning and implementation of journal editorial strategies and editorial operations. Rebecca is also currently co-chair of the Society for Scholarly Publishing’s Early Career Subcommittee. For nine years, Rebecca taught a course in the GWU Master’s of Professional Studies Program, and she continues to remain committed to helping publishing students and early career professionals learn and succeed in their career journeys. In addition, her professional interests include publishing standards and trends; the evolution of language and usage; and diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging in scholarly publishing and beyond.
