Carlos is a U.S. veteran who has served five faithful years in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a boot at 7th Communications Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, working in secure satellite communications and participating in Exercise Ulchi Focus Lens (UFL) in South Korea. He then served at Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) in Arlington, VA, providing secure defense messaging capabilities for the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) and staff agencies at the Navy Annex and Pentagon. After serving four years on active duty and transitioning to the Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR) in September 2000, Carlos reenlisted after September 11, 2001. He served at Headquarters Marine Forces Europe as the Local Communications Center (LCC) Chief in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), in Böblingen, Germany. Carlos is the Senior Director of Information Technology at the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA), where he oversees credentialing platforms and systems, infrastructure, data, and key information systems that contribute to the support of the NBCRNA mission. He is a co-founder of Association Latinos, a nonprofit with a mission to increase and advance Latino leadership, representation, and inclusion in associations, where he serves as the Board Secretary. Carlos is the current Chair of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Technology Professionals Advisory Council and an ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) alum.
During his spare time, he enjoys travel and street photography, occasional writing, and being creative, including creating the website www.semperwifi.com to share captured images of people, places, and random things.
