Join Us for NISO Plus Global/Online
Preparations for our NISO Plus 2024 Global/Online virtual conference (September 17–18) are well underway! Our call for session proposals closed last week, and we’re eagerly awaiting to hear the results of the NISO Plus 2024–25 Planning Committee’s review. The final decision is theirs, but we’ve taken a peek and are already excited about some of the proposals we’ve seen to date. Sessions suggested by an international group of librarians, publishing professionals, and tech providers cover hot topics like accessibility, DEIA in metadata, author identity and name changes, open research infrastructure, research integrity, and of course, artificial intelligence in scholarly communications.
In the tradition of previous NISO Plus events, we’re planning for a highly interactive meeting, with discussions that will generate ideas for addressing the big challenges and opportunities in the community (some of these ideas could lead to future NISO projects!). In addition to panel sessions and keynote addresses, the conference program will also feature standards updates from NISO staff and Working Group members, and sessions will be scheduled in time slots that allow for participation from multiple time zones.
Registration is now open, and you’ll see that the meeting is very affordable, with special rates for students, retirees, and residents of LMIC countries (as defined by the World Bank). We’re grateful to our sponsors, Bowker, Cadmore Media (our conference platform partner), figshare (our slide repository host), the Modern Language Association, and Silverchair, whose support has made this possible. If you would like to join them—and get your brand in front of professionals from across the information industry and around the world—you can find information on sponsoring NISO Plus Global/Online on the conference website.
Updates on the program and on speakers (including two keynotes), will be announced in the coming weeks. Be sure to check the NISO Plus site or subscribe to NISO Plus announcements to hear about the latest developments, and we look forward to seeing you in September!
