Privacy: An International Concern
The four laws examined here include the 2020 California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the 2023 California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the European Union’s and United Kingdom’s 2018 General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR/UK GDPR), and China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL).
From the white paper's conclusion:
While there are differences between the four sets of data privacy laws examined here—such as the new category of SPI, appointing DPOs, data storage times and lawful bases for processing data (all new to the CPRA)—they have more in common:from the six similar data protection rights of individuals (including the three new rights of the incoming CPRA) to their shared approach to risk-mitigating responsibilities, including the use of cookies, Privacy Policies, data security measures, handling requests, and data breaches.
